A Loved One’s Name

Not to┬ábe morbid on what is a glorious day…FRIDAY, but as the colder weather sets in and the holiday madness is about to begin I find myself missing those I’ve lost even more than usual. It happens every so often, usually when there is a turn in the seasons.

One thing I found that helps this ache is saying that person’s name, not just in your head, but out loud. We go a long time without saying their name because they are no longer in our lives. I find saying their name out loud releases some of the pain and makes me feel like they’re still here with me. So sometimes, when I’m alone, standing in my kitchen or driving in the car I say her name out loud…and it feels so good. I know she’s right there with me. I know it may sound a little crazy, but it makes the corners of my mouth turn up. Unfortunately, I have quite a few names on my list of those I call out to. But that just means I had and still do have a lot of love around me.

Who are you missing? Just say it.
