Fitness Friday – Family Fun

You don’t need to be running on a threadmill or shaking it up in zumba class to burn some calories and stay fit. Don’t forget the fun stuff. Now that spring is here, get outside! Get outside with the family.

According to Self Magazine a 135lb woman can burn 160 calories while playing a game of tag for 30 minutes. Add that to running up and down the stairs with a laundry basket and you got a pretty good workout for the day.

Better yet, have a dance party! The kids would love it. Burn 140 calories while having fun with your kids making memorable moments and keeping fit. It’s also great to get the kids involved and away from all the video games or whatever else they’re into.

Exercise doesn’t have to be torture. You can fit in any time. I’m hoping to go for a nice hike in the woods with the family this weekend….now that the snow has FINALLY melted!

  1. This is so true, plus repetition of the treadmill can be hard on this older mom’s back, legs and feet. I have been turning on some music in the office, shutting the door, and dancing like a fool with a little yoga here and there. I would not dare let anyone see me. haha
