We have been waiting forever for How To Train Your Dragon 2 to hit the theaters. I mean years. Before they even announced that they were going to make one. We’re huge dragon fans here. Between zipplebacks and whispering death…we love them all. We even saw How To Train Your Dragon LIVE two years ago and the kids are still talking about it. They want to see it again. Unfortunately, it’s not currently playing in the states.
We took the boys to see the movie on Saturday. The only dissapointment was the cost of admission for a family of five. Ridiculous! But the movie was incredible, as most Dreamworks movies are. We loved it!
The movie takes place five years after the original film. Dragons and vikings are living peacefully together. Little do they know, that out yonder someone is gathering a dragon army. A dragon army led by an evil man…it’s not going to be good for our heros of Berk.
What really grabbed me in this movie was that Hiccup finds his mother. This alone gives Hiccup a greater understanding of who he is and why he is so different from his father, Stoick the Vast. In both the first film and this film, that has been his main struggle. There is a point in the film where his mother says to him, “You have the heart of a chief and the soul of a dragon.” This was by far my favorite part of the movie. It perfectly describes who this boy (well, now man) is.
The animation was of course incredible. There was humor, emotion, and some great action. All well balanced and very well done. So if you’re thinking about seeing it…go see it!! Amazing. All five of us LOVED it!
