Well it’s my birthday this holiday weekend. With it comes the question, “what do you want for your birthday?” I don’t want anything tangible. I just want time. Time for just me and time with my family. Time to do things I enjoy. I want to wake up and go for a run. Just run alone with my music. The fresh air. Mornings here lately have brought forth the reality that fall is almost here. You can feel the crisp chill in the air. I just want to run and enjoy that.
I want to cook a good meal. I know what you must be saying. Have someone else cook for you, or have someone take you to a restaurant…but I WANT to cook I enjoy it. Good music, a glass of wine, and the smell of garlic.
I want family time without arguing. I know it’s too much to ask. I want to go for a hike in the woods, or play tag on the beach. I want to break out my old 35mm camera and capture it all. Birthdays are a good time to reflect on your life. Where you are, where you’ve been, and where you plan to go. What makes you, you. Kahlil Gibran wrote, “To be able to look upon ones life in satisfaction, is to live twice.” I plan on looking back, looking forward, and enjoying the moment.
