It was in the 80s yesterday here in New England. Gorgeous day. I had the windows open in the house. The breeze kicked up a little in the evening making it very comfortable. Then something happened…the temperature dropped to 50! As previously stated, all the windows were open in the house. Yup, it was cold, especially because my husband sleeps with an industrial fan on! At 4:35am I got a little visitor who had a bad dream. Normally, I would bring him back upstairs and get him to go back to sleep. It was too cold to get out of bed so he climbed in and we snuggled. It then occurred to me that we hadn’t had a good snuggle in a while and this little guy was kicking off some heat!
5:30am in comes another one. Mind you I hadn’t fallen asleep since the first one entered. “Come on up.” Now I had two; one on each side. All comfy cozy in my big bed waiting for the alarm to go off in 3o minutes.
Children warm our hearts and souls…but today they also warmed me to the tips of my toes. A nice quiet snuggle with no requests for snacks and milk. Although it would have been better without their “dragon breath.” I need to cherish these moments because I know they won’t last long.
