I hate when parents constantly complain to schools. Some things are just ridiculous. My mom works for a school department and has to dodge the whiney, overbearing parents on a daily basis. I don’t want to find myself in that category. However, today I found myself writing my first letter to the principal. A week and a half of school in and I’m already writing a letter. Scary. I hope to never have to do this again.
I went to drop my son off for school today. There in the bus drop-off lane was a parked SUV, engine running, unattended, and with blaring obscenities coming from the stereo speakers. Seriously people? The music irritated me, but that was not my main concern. My concern was that there was a running and unattended vehicle in an elementary school parking lot. Are parents really that stupid? I work in the field of automotive forensics and have seen what could happen. Not only could a mischievous child get into the vehicle, but the transmission could slip into gear or the parking pawl could give way. Where are people’s’ heads these days?
So Dear Principal,
Tell the parents to get their heads out of their you know what!
Sincerely,
The Pain in the Butt Mom
Sorry…just had to vent.
Yea, that’s pretty scary and super irresponsible. What are people thinking? And actually, the music is a concern, because that’s just rude. And they probably use their cell phone when near the school, too.
Rude is absolute the right word. Thanks for reading. Hopefully I don’t seen this happen again.
I totally see where you are coming from. That’s crazy. And you are not a pain in the butt mom. I am sensitive to all that too because my mom has also worked in the schools for years… but at some point you have to say what you need to say – and what you saw was important. Our school has a rule no vehicles should be in the bus lane by the doors but you know parents do it anyway. Drives me nuts. That being said, I’ve never seen a car running unattended. Scary.
