I’ve been avoiding it like the plague. Just the thought of it frightens me. It takes any energy I have and sucks out like a Dyson in a matter of seconds. I don’t feel like doing it. I have to be in the mood to do it in order to be productive at all. It was easy to avoid when I was sick, I just shut the door and went downstairs. I’ve been better for a while now. I’ve tackled the rest of the house. It’s time to buck up and tackle it.
The Toy Room!
The toy room is an absolute mess! Beyond mess really. We need to get rid of so many things. Usually I go through the little bins they have at night and toss stuff, but I can’t recall the last time I did that. We have baby toys that they have outgrown. Duplicates of things they don’t play with. It’s donation time!! This is what I am trying to tackle this morning, with their help of course (oh the word ‘help’ just gave me a chuckle). Let the bickering begin…
Wish me luck. I need it. More coffee please.
I’d be itching to help! I love organizing! When I did this with my small girls we put a Big Box in the hall for give away and a garbage bag,, and two small boxes in the play area.
Then we decided what was staying and what was leaving. I am always amazed how much was pure garbage…..The children Also thought ahead to cool things they might ask for for Chrismas or birthdays, to enhance their favorites collection.
The easiest thing to do was to root out the garbage.
The cant live withouts go in the small boxes….in your case three.
Then there is the run down things that can be washed, by the boys, packed in the big box and delivered to a needy place. So good for them to understand that their hand me downs will be someone’s “can’t live withouts.”
Then when we go to the church charity store, even now with the grands, they bring a little money to get something for dress up or sword fighting
we are making progress…Deacon found some toys to give his cousin, Logan found some for goodwill, and I found a TON of things that could be trashed. I love organizing, but have to be in the mood to tackle this one room.
Good luck! I know what you mean… clutter drives me completely insane!
Thats why I shut the door. It makes my skin crawl. I’m making a mental note of what I can take out of there while they’re sleeping. So far they have been pretty good about giving up some things. – Okay now back to my hole.
Oh my goodness! We are going through something similar. Aiden has outgrown most of the toys in the toy room… We are actually in the process of switching them out. That makes me crazy. I think outgrown clothes and toys both are what drives me nuts. I can never keep up with the clothes that Aiden doesn’t fit in anymore. I have to constantly bring up new clothes and bring the ones that don’t fit downstairs… along with the toys. Good luck! 🙂
It looks like my office!
Ha ha! It took me hours to go through that mess. At least I have a bunch for donation and I through out an enormous back of trash (luckly they didn’t look in there) 🙂
Okay – you are hired – see you tomorrow!!!
I know someone else who just went through the difficult task of tidying up her boys’ space (she only has 2). Later she posted something she found on Pinterest: ‘Trying to clean with kids around is like trying to brush your teeth while eating Oreos!’ This is so true it hurts! 🙂
