6 Ways We’re Beating the Heat

It’s summer and it’s hot, but I’m not complaining. I love summer. I rather have the kids outside playing than being confined in the house by the blustering cold. Here are 6 ways we’re beating the summer heat.

1.) The sprinkler. Nothing more classic than running through the sprinkler. It definitely keeps them entertained for a while.

2.) Stepping up from the sprinkler…the slip and slide. This one is new for us this year and they love it. It’s the best $15 I’ve spent in a while. Easy to set up and they’re completely entertained. Yes, I’ve had to squash a few spats, but that’s a daily battle anyway.

3.) Bowling. Nice and air conditioned. Check out www.Kidsbowlfree.com and find an alley in your area that participates. You receive free weekly bowling passes. Score!

4.) The beach. I wish we could do this one more often. They love the beach and I love that they are completely tuckered out by the end of the day.

5.) The movies. The movies can be pricey for a family of 5 so we don’t do this one too often.

6.) Due to pricey movie theaters we make our own theater at home. A nice air conditioned bedroom complete with twinkle lights, popcorn, m&ms, and a movie. Completely awesome!

AND what do we do when it’s a hot and rainy summer day… PLAY IN THE RAIN of course!

Hope you’re all enjoying your summer.

  1. Do any of your local movie theaters offer free movies during the day over summer break? There are several theaters in our area that do this. It’s a fun daytime treat for me and the kids.
