A friend of mine sent me a pin for a Fitsugar 10 minute tabata workout. I had never done a tabata workout before, so I had to try it. For those of you not familiar with what tabata is, it is a version of HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). Basically, it is 20 seconds of super high intensity where you need to go all out with everything you have, really bumping up the heart rate. That is then followed by a 10 second rest period. The theory is that it boosts your metabolism and maximize your workout…thus burning more fat.
I have to say, I enjoyed this workout. However, I think if you focus too much on the instructors and actually follow their movement/speed to a T, you’re not going to maximize the workout. Example, while doing mountain climbers, I did them as fast as I could. I tried to fit as many in as possible before the 10 second rest. I find it entirely more effective. I was sweating halfway through this workout. Not bad for squeezing in a 10 minute workout. Give it try.
