Fitness Friday – Trying Yoga….again

I’m not a yoga person. I wish I was, but I’m not. It’s hard for me to keep still and consider it to be exercising, but it totally is. Yoga is amazing. It takes a ton of skill and it’s so beneficial to both your body and your mind. I have tried over and over to do yoga. All types of videos. When my husband and I first got married and were living in our basement apartment we tried doing it together. I think we burned more calories lying on the floor laughing. My mind is too crazy to sit there in one position breathing I guess. The only yoga I actually did religiously for a while was Leisa Hart’s Fitmama prenatal fat burn yoga. I basically liked it because there was movement. Lots of it.

Well I’ve been trying to do new things lately and I decided to give it another try, but not follow a video. Just find some basic  moves that I can do in the evening before I sit down with my glass of wine.

Funny that pigeon pose is my favorite and I HATE birds.

I did quite a number of these poses. Holding them and breathing for 10 deep breaths each. Maybe that’s  not much, but I certainly felt like I was doing some good. If I held them for longer I would have just been bored (which is essentially my yoga problem). I felt pretty fantastic when I got out of bed this morning. I can see myself adding these to my weekly routine.

What are you thoughts on yoga? Love it? Hate it? Never tried it?
