Finding Pavement

I’m telling you it had to be the best day I’ve had in forever. All because I found pavement. Dry pavement. It may have been bordered by 3-5 foot banks of snow, but it was dry pavement. The fresh air, sunshine, and temperatures ABOVE freezing were exactly what I needed. A complete mood shifter. Each step that hit that pavement pounded out all the negatives that had been holding me down this winter. It gave me hope that spring will actually come. I will actually be able to start training for my half marathon. Life is going to get better. I will get my hands in the soil and build my garden. I will find my grill buried somewhere in the backyard along with the fire pit and the deck furniture I never put away before winter came. Hope. Hope has been what I needed. I’ve felt miserable and confined for so long.

It’s amazing what 27 minutes of pavement can do for me. Pure happiness.

I’m loving the longer days of sunlight. We even got to enjoy an evening walk after dinner. I can’t remember the last time we were able to do that. We all needed a little pavement.

  1. My fyo was running yesterday after dinner, tripped, and hit the pavement, scraping her nose down to her chin, leaving her a nice fat lip and bloodied clothes. Other than that, I agree with you that everyone could use a little pavement! 🙂

  2. Aw I’m the opposite! I’m SO sad that our snow is melting! (Though I do appreciate the extra hour in bed in the mornings when I don’t have to dig the car out the drive…). I do agree that Spring feeling is lovely though – enjoy your pavement 🙂

  3. I love your winter adventures! Being down here in Melbourne we had a gorgeous sunny and warm autumn day for my hormonal 10-year-olds pool party yesterday. I will feel jealous as your summer (and therefore my winter) approaches!
