Wow, it’s been quite a while since I did a bookshelf post. I use to do them every week because we would read so much, but now the kids are onto chapter books so we really don’t get as much “together” reading time in. However, Deacon insisted on getting this book from the book fair, even though it’s not in his age group. He loves any variation of the three little pig stories for some reason. Maybe it has to do with being one of three brothers or something like that. Whatever the reason, it was a must get.
The Three Ninja Pigs by Corey Rosen Schwartz. The story was adorable and taught a very good lesson. You see the three pigs are sick of that bully of wolf and they decide to train and become great fighters so they can finally defeat the big bad wolf. They each pick a different martial arts style to perfect. However, the first two pigs end up quitting. They never master their moves. It’s the sister’s persistence in her training that saves the day. Being out-numbered in a house of boys, this made me fall in LOVE with this book. Leave it to the girl to have the discipline, strength, and perseverance. It was a great little lesson for my guys who think they’re so tough. They shouldn’t underestimate the power of a girl! Anyone who truly puts their mind to something and practices hard, can accomplish great things.
Go check it out! I’m sure your little ones will get a chuckle out of it.
