As I’ve said before, this is my FAVORITE race. I love it! I get to see so many friends, the event is well managed, and it supports ALS! It’s a fun event with great vendors/sponsors, good music, a gorgeous view, and of course a nice pint of Guinness waiting for me at the finish line. This year my husband decided to run the race as well. With no training mind you. I was a little nervous for him, seeing he’s not in the best shape, but I was so excited that he was actually going to do it. And guess what? He did great! Ran and walked, finishing in 36 minutes. I was SO proud of him. A pint of Guinness can be pretty motivating. I was thrilled to see him trucking down the final stretch toward the finish line. Very exciting moment for me.
Then my Melissa showed up with her husband and some family making the party even better! It was OUR birthday weekend, and seeing she lives in New York now, we don’t get to see each other often. We’ve never done a race together (even though she begged me for years to start running). She sort of stopped running and had some babies, and I then got the run-bug. Love this girl!!
And to make things 10 times better…I got a PR! Personal Record for a 5k. I was super surprised and oh so happy! Mission accomplished.
So another year down, and another Guinness (or two) consumed. It couldn’t have gone any better. Till next year!
