My husband and I were looking for a movie to watch the other night and decided on The Intern. We both love DeNiro and figured we would give it a shot. LOVED it!!

Brief Summary:

70-year-old widower Ben Whittaker has discovered that retirement isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Seizing an opportunity to get back in the game, he becomes a senior intern at an online fashion site, founded and run by Jules Ostin. – Written by Warner Bros.

The story centers around Ben, played by Robert DeNiro. Ben is a retired widow and he sends in a video resume to get a senior internship that is being offered at a successful online start-up company, founded by Jules Ostin (Anne Hathaway). What I absolutely LOVED was that he was that classic gentleman with old-school ways and thoughts. Grouped with other, younger, interns that are tech-savvy and fast-paced they create this balance. Learning life lessons together. Sharing their differences and bettering each other. It provides a lot of humor.

When Ben is placed as Jules’ personal assistant, against her will, you watch this relationship blossom. They develop this wonderful grandfatherly bond. Ben doesn’t just provide Jules with life’s wisdoms that he’s gained through the years, it’s more than that. There is a mutual ground they reach together and a love shared. The banter between the two is fantastic and definitely worth watching.

So if you’re looking for a light movie to watch, that is NOT a romantic comedy, I suggest you watch it. It’s funny and the acting and story line are great!

Have you watched anything good lately? I’d love to hear.
