I can’t believe I am just now getting to this post. Tis the CRAZY BUSY holiday season, right? We had an amazing opportunity with my boys’ cub scout den to participate in our local Operation Holiday Cheer. The Red Cross partners with our local military aid societies and they put together care packages for our Rhode Island soldiers. Respecting, appreciating, and supporting the military is very important in my family. It’s part of our values that we teach our boys on a daily basis. This was the perfect project to do so.
Collections are made throughout the state and volunteers from our community sort and assemble the care packages. Not only were we able to make a contribution, but we spent the morning at the Rhode Island Army National Guard and collected donations that were being dropped off. The boys then participated by sorting all the goods and assembling boxes. They worked really hard. It was truly a great experience. Not only were they doing something good for our military that can’t be with their families this holiday season, but they worked together as a team as well.
They were even rewarded a Dunkin’ Donut for their hard work.
I just want to personally thank all of those who have served, are still serving, and their supportive families who also make a sacrifice every single day for us. These people should be celebrated EVERY DAY. Not just special holidays. EVERY DAY.
