I’m not much of a biography person, but seeing I thoroughly enjoyed Anna Kendrick’s book Scrappy Little Nobody, I wanted to give Anna Faris’ book a try. I adore her. Although if I’m truly honest with myself, I was actually just being gossipy. I want to know what happened with one of my favorite celebrity couples damn it. Their announcement of separation truly shocked and saddened me. I thought I might get a little insight here.
I’m a Chris Pratt fan and I loved that he did the forward for Anna. These two still have love and respect for each other despite their separation. It was really sweet and funny to read.
So what can you expect from Anna in this book? So much. She claims that she doesn’t know what she’s talking about but is happy to give advice. There are some fun excerpts from her podcast Unqualified. She also dives right in on her boy-crazy years and how she stumbled through it all starting in third grade with the weird ritual, which she deemed “the orange ceremony.”
“So I did what any heartbroken eight-year-old would do: I went home, grabbed an orange from the fridge, wrote Jason’s name on the peel in black marker, and threw it off the deck into the forest outside my house.” Healthy coping skills I thought.
Her Lists to Life By were among my favorite chapters.
The Professions of Men You Should Not Date
“1. MAGICIAN The idea that someone gets off on tricking you is just fucked up.”
Sex on the Beach and Thirteen Other Things That Sound Better Than They Are
Things That Sound Better Than They Are, Part 2
She bravely went to her 10 year reunion (alone!) and like most of us, felt awkward just like it was high school all over again. I found her relatable, although I didn’t get chauffeured by Chris Pratt. It was so Romey and Michelle.
“I still felt like headgear-wearing, awkward Anna Faris, but when Chris came in, he was all movie star. There was a collective gasp as he whisked me away and, yes, that was fairly satisfying, I guess. I’m human, after all.”
She shared a lot, but in the end, I still didn’t get my answer. Even in her closing thoughts the Pratt Pratt love is still there. I don’t understand what happened. I could theorize it, but then it would just be a theory. I’ll just have to respect their privacy.
So if you’re a Anna fan or you’re looking for something funny and maybe a tad bit TMI, check it out. I promise you’ll laugh, and I promise at least a few times you’ll say “I know how you feel!”
