Cub scouts has started back up for the season. We had our first Pack meeting tonight, which was exciting. The pack always does a great job of making the Bobcat Ceremony (new coming scouts) really special. There are SIXTEEN new scouts this year. The pack has nearly doubled in size. We all gathered at Camp Buxton. I think that having the ceremony outdoors and by campfire makes it exciting. It’s an initiation of sorts and all the new scouts are welcomed into the pack. It had meĀ reminiscing about when my guys first experienced this ritual. It was so much fun and a great start to what has been a wonderful journey.
BLUE is from the sky. The paw print of the Bobcat on your forehead is the spirit of the bobcat. This reminds you to do your best on the Cub Scout Trail.
YELLOW is from the sun. The marks under your eyes will help you see the light of the Cub Scout trail and they symbolize the bright spirit of Cub Scouting.
WHITE is for purity. The mark on your nose helps you know right from wrong as you go along the Cub Scout trail.
RED is for courage. The mark on your chin reminds you to always speak the truth.
GREEN stands for the spirit of nature. The marks on each cheek will guide you to live in harmony with the great outdoors
The evening usually consists of the Bobcat Ceremony and then a Flag Retirement Ceremony. It is a wonderful lesson in respect for our country, our flag, and our community.
The night is topped off with s’mores of course!! You can’t have a campfire and not have s’mores. So here is to another exciting year of scouting. This Webelo is ready!
My son is just starting Tigers this year. We’re excited to get in the action and he can’t wait to get his Bobcat badge!
I hope he LOVES it. It really is a lot of fun and they learn a lot.
Looks like fun!
