One Day in December – Josie Silver

In my quest to branch out more author-wise, I turned to Reese Witherspoon’s book club for a suggestion. I had bookmarked this one in December in hopes of getting to it before Christmas, but you know how that goes. A London-based romance, sign me up please! I’m a sucker for London. When I say I devoured this book, I mean I DEVOURED this book. For a mom of three who works full-time to be able to read a 400 page book in only three days…you know I was sneaking in pages while folding laundry and making lunches because I could not put it down. I absolutely LOVED this story.

This was a seriously moving love story. The story follows the lives of Laurie, Sarah, and Jack. One day in December Laurie is traveling on the bus home and spots a man sitting at the bus station. When their eyes lock, it’s magic, the love-at-first-sight kind, if you believe in that. Do I get off the bus, she wonders? Do I get on the bus, he wonders? They miss their opportunity and spend the next decade wondering what would have happened if they had.

This is story is fun, it’s heartbreaking, and it’s eye-opening. It is a story of deep everlasting friendships. Is timing everything when it comes to relationships? Can you have more than one great love? Are some people fated to be together? This book will make you question it all and have you cheering Laurie on. Will she find the “bus boy?”
