20 Ways to Amp Up Canned Soup

It’s been raining for days!! I am so sick of the rain. I think it’s been 17 days out of 25 where we have had rain this April. It’s rather depressing. However, nothing beats soup on a rainy day. When I’m pressed for time on a week day I have no problem turning to canned soup. I just like to amp it up a little. Here are 20 ways you can amp up canned soup (and claim it as your own).

Tomato Soup

  1. Add 2 tbsp of cream, chopped fresh basil, and ground black pepper.
  2. Top with arugula, shaved pParmesan, and balsamic glaze.
  3. Add pesto and grated Parmesan.
  4. Sauté some shallots with a little Sherry wine, then stir into soup.
  5. Add 1 tsp of Thai red curry paste and some cooked rice.
  6. Add one finely chopped chipotle pepper in adobo sauce and some shredded chicken.
  7. Top with sliced jalapeños and shredded cheddar.
  8. Stir in 1 tbsp of sour cream and some chives and ground black pepper.
  9. Add 1 tsp soy sauce, some cooked rice noodles, and scallions.
  10. Add 1 tsp of red wine vinegar and melt on some Fontina cheese.

Butternut Squash soup

  1. Add sausage and sage.
  2. Mix in sautéed shallots and sour cream.

Chicken soup

  1. Add lemon and fresh dill.
  2. Add red pepper flakes and corn.
  3. Add in a handful of baby kale and tsp of hot sauce

Lentil soup

  1. Add fresh ginger and Greek yogurt.
  2. Add Thai red curry paste.

Clam Chowder

  1. Add Hot sauce and corn.
  2. Add fresh dill and cracked black pepper.

Cream of Chicken Soup

  1. Add shredded rotisseri chicken, fresh thyme, and frozen peas.
