When They Take What You Say Literally

I was clearing away dinner from the table last night when I asked my son to grab the last two things; the butter and the leftover corn on the cob. I didn’t really pay attention when he asked where he should put them, I just shouted, ” on the counter!” I just kept doing what I was doing…washing dishes, throwing in laundry, and grabbing their bags to make lunches. I then passed by the dining room table and was immediately confused. For a brief second I thought he ignored me and didn’t clear the things from the table. At a closer look I see the butter dish is still on the table with no butter on it. The dish the corn on the cob was in was still on the table, but empty.

The boy literally placed the stick of butter and piece of corn on the counter and left the dishes on the table. We might be in trouble.
