So I was stuck home with shingles recently. It was HORRIBLE, but I did get to indulge in some guilt-free binge time. Here are some series I enjoyed.

Netflix

Sweet Magnolias – This was pretty good. It had that sort of Gilmore Girls feel to it in my opinion. Newly single mom, divorce pending, is trying to navigate her new life while living in a gossipy little southern town with the support of her two childhood best friends. The baseball coach is not bad on the eyes either.

Virgin River – Very Hallmark. After a great tragedy a nurse uproots her life and moves to a tiny town up north. It is not what she was expecting and the practicing doctor up there doesn’t even want her there. Question is, should she stay? Is this little town just what she needs to heal?

Norther Rescue – After the sudden death of his wife, John West moves his three kids from Boston back to his hometown. Secrets are kept, and revealed. Everyone is struggling in their own way and learning to deal with hurt, anger, and sadness. Also has some added action seeing John West runs the town’s Search and Rescue team.

Hulu

Normal People – I stumbled across this one because I heard Irish accents in the trailer. The story follows Marianne and Connell who live in a small town in Ireland together. Their paths keep crossing over the years. It is one of those “are they ever going to realize they need to be together?” Each character goes through highs and lows (pretty dark lows). It is very NOT-Hallmark, more risky. I’m tempted to read the book, but afraid it might be very depressing.

Little Fires Everywhere – Loved this. I absolutely LOVE Kerri Washington and Reese Witherspoon. I’m not really sure how to describe this one. It sort of explores the consequences of secrets, image, along with identity. Tiffany Boone who plays the younger version of Kerri Washington’s character absolutely nailed it.

Lastly, I got to finish Season 4 of Vikings  on Amazon Prime.
